Prague Overview Tour – Highlights

(duration  up to 4 hours)

This tour covers the main highlights of the City of Prague. We pick you up at your hotel or any other agreed place in Prague and  take you (on foot, by public transportation, by our limousine or van – your choice) to the Castle Town. Passing by the Strahov Monastery and the picturesque Loretto Church, we get  to the Prague Castle – the largest castle area in Europe, counting over 2000 rooms.

We visit the Saint Vitus Cathedral to see the grave of the national patron Saint Wenceslas.

Walking through the pointed arches, we will go through all of the castle courtyardes and go out at the Old Castle Steps leading down to the city under the Castle.

The tour continues down through the Lower Town, a diplomatic and residential quarter with numerous former noble mansions, to the Charles Bridge, the oldest Prague stone bridge decorated by 30 statues of the Saints representing different catholic  religious orders.

After  Charles Bridge, the tour will lead through the Jewish Town, former medieval ghetto, of which the historical synagogues have been preserved. Nowadays, the Jewish Town is one of the most expensive quarters of Prague, full of stores of world-known brands, e.g. Louis Vuitton, Gucci or Swarowski. The exquisite Art Nouveau Parizska Street opens the treasure of Prague, the Old Town and the Old Town Square. Here you will learn about the Astronomical clock, Prague City Hall and colorful barock and rococco houses…

The tour will end in the New Town neighborhood,  a part of the city centre founded in 1348. The quarter  planned by the Emperor Charles IV offers gothic sights like the Powder Tower or the Municipal House – a top work of Prague Art Nouveau style, National Museum, as well as the National Theatre or the State Opera built in the Neo Renaissance style. Numerous magnificent pieces of architecture from the 20´s and 30´s of the 20th century, a period of unprecendented wealth in the city, are seen. The New Town is a space for the Prague people, where most of them go shopping, clubbing as well as they find here hundreds of good restaurants with local food.

This is a half a day tour. We kindly recommend to start the tour around 9 a.m. before the big crowds of people get in the streets or around 2 p.m. which is a time when most tourists go for lunch and the centre of Prague is emptier.

Thank you for your understanding and your interest is this highly recommended tour.
